Future Marketing

Postby StuartMiles » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:57 am

Hi, this is for everyone to contribute.

As we are flying along, hopefully we will soon reach a point where we will be ready to print and actually start marketing the game.

I was hoping to generate and share some ideas about launching and marketing the game.
This is what I have a the moment.

1. To launch the game at somewhere like Harrods or Hamleys, we could dress up as some of the characters so if anyone is any good at costume / outfit design, masks etc.
2. To host tournaments with good prizes to generate awareness.
3. To create large print life size cardboard cut outs and take these into Towns etc to set up stalls selling the game.
4. We have three or four book concepts.
5. On-line presence - to improve the website and SEO adwords etc
6. Are there good national gaming magazines or websites that we could advertise in?

please add here any ideas or comments, many thanks guys

I'll think more about the other parts, but now about the website. To be honest, the front side looks very rough. It's simple, the graphics and layout aren't so nice and so on. Also the re-sized images look pixelated, like they have been scaled without a filter which is bad.
I'd even suggest you to hire a web designer to re-design the whole web site.

I have also a question. When are you aiming to launch the first set?

I think we can edit the website and make it look bloody brilliant ourself. But I agree it certainly needs changing. Without a doubt.

yeah i agree, we just chucked the site together at the time but we know it desperately needs updating. we may get a web designer in once we start selling online.
as for launch date, its not yet set, and cant be set until we are nearing completion on the illustrations.

Are you planning to release it exclusively in the UK? Or in the US as well?
Either way, the internet is a huge way to market a card game to your target audience - as such, its important that you beef up your website. Definitely listen to Pate5's suggestions on design. Maybe create a thread looking for design ideas?

yeah the website is in full swing, will still be a little basic but we plan to get it to point and then pay a professional to beef it up
